The WWE Divas division couldn’t have been any worse over the past few years, but things have been looking up as of late. The two most talented Divas in the company—Beth Phoenix and Natalya—turned heel and have united as the “Divas of Doom,” with their main goal being to rid the WWE of its Barbie Doll-like Divas. Their No. 1 targets so far seem to be Eve and Divas Champion Kelly Kelly. That might not last for long, though.
I like the idea of having one of the WWE’s top two baby face Divas turn heel, but the wrestling business is all about timing. And guess what? It’s not the right time to turn Kelly Kelly or Eve heel. In my book, the top six Divas on the WWE roster are (based on the way the WWE books them, not necessarily talent): Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly, Eve and the Bellas.
So, let’s say you turn Kelly Kelly heel. Then, where does the Divas division go from there? Exactly. The WWE Divas division is fine like it is right now. You have the model-type Divas as the faces and the powerhouse-type Divas as the heels. Put them on opposite sides, and let them feud.
If the WWE creative team decided to turn Kelly Kelly heel, there would be no one for her to feud with. She would now be just like the Divas of Doom, and a rivalry with them would no longer be possible.
Conversely, if the creative team turned Eve heel, she still fits the model-type description as well. Are the Divas of Doom just supposed to welcome her aboard? I don’t think so. Maybe down the right the perfect opportunity will present itself for either Eve or Kelly Kelly to move over to the dark side. But not right now.
Kelly Kelly is the most popular Diva in the WWE, but also one that needs a lot of work in the ring. Beth Phoenix and Natalya are the best female wrestlers in the company, but they could use someone to help get them more over as heels.
