Fourth of July weekend in the U.S. extends to tonight's episode of WWE Raw with a live TV taping from Nashville, Tenn. WWE is not advertising any matches, segments, or a guest host for Raw in advance. The main angle on tonight's show will involve the "anonymous Raw GM" announcing the fate of the Nexus group (seven remaining NXT Season One Rookies).
Nexus leader Wade Barrett is expected to be part of the angle after being off last week's Raw. The storyline to explain Barrett's absence from TV was that Barrett was meeting with WWE officials during Raw. One of the bigger questions to be answered tonight will be how WWE follows up on the storyline-driven attack against Ricky Steamboat on last week's Raw. Steamboat remains in the hospital after a legitimate health scare on Wednesday night.
WWE is claiming the Nexus attack was unrelated to his health concern two days later. WWE initially reported on Thursday afternoon that it was inconclusive whether the two events were related. Also on tonight's Raw will be more hype for the Money in the Bank PPV on July 18. WWE will be promoting the WWE Title match with Sheamus defending against John Cena in a steel cage match, plus the eight-man MITB ladder match featuring a mix of Raw main-eventers and mid-carders.
